Gunmen kidnap Taraba Deputy Gov’s mother, demand N300m ransom

Unknown gun men yesterday night invaded the
house of the Deputy governor of Taraba state, Engr.
Haruna Manu and abducted his mother at Mutum-Biu,
headquarters of Gasol Local Government area.
The deputy governor was said to have travelled out of the
state when the incident occurred.
The  heavily armed gunmen , according an eye witness,
came on three motorcycles, forcefully entered the house
and whisked Madam Manu away.
"One of the abductors fell down while they were trying to
escape as the deputy governor's neighbour rushed to the
scene only to be shot at by the gunman on the ground."
Vanguard gathered that the man was rushed to the
hospital, but later died Tuesday morning.
A family source revealed to Vanguard that the abductors
phoned a family member demanding N300 million
ransom.
Attempt to confirm the incident from the police failed as
the state Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Joseph Kwaji
was not responding to his calls at the time of the report.
