The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele
Fayose, yesterday said that he was ready to
be probed by Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission and Independent
Corrupt Practices and other Related
Offences Commission probe over all
financial dealings of his administration.
The governor also played down the
speculations that some Peoples Democratic
Party stalwarts in the state were planning to
defect to the All Progressives Congress.
Speaking during the official foundation
laying ceremony of the proposed ultra
modern Oja Oba market , in Ado Ekiti on
Friday, assured that the market, will be
ready in 18 months.
“I know that I have so many enemies and
that is why I have been following due
process in all my dealings. There are
enemies for me when I sleep and when I
wake up , so I have to be careful. I don’t
want my enemies to latch on technicality to
get at me”, he said.
He promised that all the market men and
women, who had suffered as a result of the
demolition will have cause to rejoice with
him after the completion of the project.
On those planning to dump PDP, he said “I
am not scared by these defection threats. If
you want to go, you better leave now. I
always rely on the masses rather than
politicians, because they don’t betray like
politicians.
“Politics is a game and we shall play it for
them in 2018. When you make the people
your pillar, you will never fail. I am confident
that I will defeat them if election is held here
20 times, because I make the masses the
pillar of support”.
Meanwhile, the Governor, has described the
Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon
Arase, as a thoroughbred professional,
whose handling of issues is commendable.
Fayose who spoke in Ado-Ekiti when the IGP
paid him a courtesy call in his office in Ado
Ekiti also appealed to the police boss to
ensure that more policemen were deployed
to Ekiti State.
In a statement by the governor’s Chief Press
Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the governor
prayed that another professional in the
mould of Arase would be appointed to the
exalted position when Arase times out.
The governor who also commended the
Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State
Command, Mr Etop John James, for
diligently handle security issues in the state
said “I appreciate the CP for his efforts and
bringing his experience in community
policing to bear in the state. Policing is not
about gun alone, you can resolve some
issues without lifting a finger. He has been
exceptional and when there are political
issues that can degenerate, I make sure he
is in the know from the beginning,” he said.
